The Story

In this fast-moving sequel to Jackson Jones and the Puddle of Thorns, Jackson and friends must foil the big city developers who plan to bulldoze Rooter's, the community garden where Jackson has a plot. The kids try a protest, a vigil, a talk with a reporter--nothing seems to help. And to complicate matters, Blood, the neighborhood bully, keeps popping up like a bad weed. Can Jackson come up with a winning strategy to save the garden and stave off Blood?

Writing Games

Jackson and friends organize a protest. They want more people to be aware of something unfair--the destruction of the community garden. Is there something you want to save (for example, an endangered animal) or protest (for example, a school sports policy)? What could you do? Who would you write? How would

you get other kids and people interested?
